- Look at nearby schools, parks, public transportation, and even your favorite restaurants. Think about how long you’re planning on living in the area and how your needs may change during that time.
- Drive through the neighborhood at different times of the day to get a feel for the community.
05
Make a wish list
- Identify your must-have features, such as the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, yard size, and parking.
- Include “nice-to-have” items, but be willing to compromise.
- Keep your budget in mind when creating your list.
06
Attend open houses and schedule showings
- Tour as many homes as possible to get a feel for what’s available in your price range.
- Take notes and photos to help remember each property.
- Ask your real estate agent questions about the home’s condition, history, and potential resale value.
07
Make an offer and negotiate
- Work with your agent to determine a fair offer based on comparable home sales.
- Be prepared for counteroffers and negotiations.
- Include contingencies in your offer, such as a home inspection or financing approval.
